Come in!

INVITATION by Shel Silverstein

If you are a dreamer, come in.
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer . . .
If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire,
For we have some flax golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!

I read this poem to my son Tuesday night at bedtime.  I have read it many times before.  This time, it seemed the perfect post--words just out there with their own life, their own obvious purpose.

Come in!

  7. I remember being in elementary and hearing this poem on audio tapes. One of my favorites. My kids love the whole book of Where the Sidewalk Ends but I read it of course but do my best audio tape impression.

  9. I love the feeling I get when I read this poem aloud. I feel like more of a dreamer every time!

And, Dez--I, too, love the magic bean buyer as well.
