Book Day Grammar Day--Big Day!

A bunch of stuff popped up today and I had to post it.  You don't mind two posts in a day, do you?  (Not bad when the first one is on drying up!)
1.  It is World Book Day in the UK!  I had never heard of this before a tweet came my way this afternoon.  What a wonderful concept!  The day is "the biggest annual celebration of books and reading in the UK and Ireland."  Not only is this day about stressing reading in schools and in the home, but it also supports charities such as Book Aid International, Readathon, and The Roald Dahl Foundation.  The stated purpose of this great day is this:
"A main aim of World Book Day in the UK and Ireland is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own."
In 2009, UNESCO sponsored World Book and Copyright Day on April 23rd, the date that "and in the same year of 1616, Cervantes, Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega all died.  I couldn't find information on whether one will be celebrated this year.
2.  Here in the U.S. it's National Grammar Day!  The call to pens?
"March forth on March 4 to speak well, write well, and help others do the same!"
Go to the site for fun with grammar, bloggers participating in the event, and more.  There's even a 'March Forth' song (right before the Songwriting Hall of Shame)!

3.  A faulty heart beat sent my grandmother back into surgery this morning.  However, the pacemaker they tried to place would not connect and one of her lungs is not functioning well.  I know this is a lot of detail, but your prayers would again be appreciated.

  3. Because I watch Grey's Anatomy and ER I like to think I'm au fait with surgery and all that, but then a friend of my mom's was given the wrong blood during surgery and nearly died (can you believe that)...so I'm shifty about it now. I hope your grandmother gets well.

National Grammar Day? An excuse to correct people snobbishly? Count me in!
