A breakroom reflection

There are pork rinds in the vending machine and the scrolling announcement reads EAT ALL YOU WANT.

As I sit thinking about it, the junk behind the glass looks more and more appealing.  The neon packaging becomes commercial art.  The onomotopeia titles become poetic.  The scrolling Linux letters work their subconscious magic.

Maybe I do want tooth-chipping Runts from 1991.  Or perhaps an air-filled bag of Ragin' Ranch Generic Brand Potato Chips.

Caramel Cremes.

Crunch Mania Bite-size Cinnamon Buns.

Do people really buy this stuff?

I buy the trail mix with M&M's.

  1. Michele - It is interesting, isn't it, how that junk can become appealing? I admit, I've given in, myself....

  2. Sometimes those Combos look really good to me in the snack machine. :) I wouldn't buy them any other time.

  3. I porbably lose $3-$4 a day on our vending machines at work. Not proud of that. My wife and I are doing a "Cleanse" next week, so I'll use it as a chance to learn me some discipline!

  4. Eh, I don't find myself buying food from a vending machine too often. A drink? Yes, all the time at school.

  5. Stop, stop, you're making me hungry! Ok, I've been known to make a trip to the vending machine once in awhile but I draw the line at tooth-chipping runts from 1991.

Great post, Michele. I laughed. I cried. I hurled.

  6. I used to always get those caramel cremes when I went to the movies. Dee-lish, and oh so artificial tasting!

  7. I almost never eat that type of junk! Too many empty calories.

Although I'm with Elizabeth - the Combos always look good and I never buy them anywhere else. :)
