Finally...*sigh*

I'm at a coffeeshop.  Both kids are in school and I am out of the house.  I am dressed.  I am showered.  I am makeup-ed.  I am drinking coffee--a medium mocha skinny, to be exact.  I am blogging.  I am typing.  I am surrounding by warmth and the smell of good brew and the chatter of conversation--business, friendship, gossip, pain.  It's all around me and I breathe it in.

Where are you today?  Can you pull inspiration from your surrounding, mundane or fantastic?

  1. Michele - I know just what you mean about tuning in to one's own environment. As I read your post, I could just imagine where you are and what you're doing; you're quite skilled at using just a few words to convey so much...

  2. 2 hour delay for school today, so I'm still rebooting my day! Ha!

  3. Sound nice! I need to go and write in a cafe some time soon. Need a change of environment!

  4. Well, thank you, Margot! Writing as I feel, think, hear, and see is my favorite thing to do. One reason I don't write SciFi, though!

Elizabeth-- I had those all this week--no school Tues or Wed, and really for no reason!

Jessica-- That's what I needed for today as well. I hear you!

  5. Good for you, Michele! My two oldest kids are back in school after a snow day yesterday; youngest at home with a cold. As for make up; honestly, I don't remember the last time I put it on. I probably should, but I've gotten really really good at avoiding mirrors.

  7. I'm working late. Went home at 5 pm, made dinner for kids and wife. Then a friend came to visit and ate the rest of our dinner. Now I'm back in the office, and will work till about midnight. I'm teaching a course this semester and have to prepare a lecture for tomorrow. Drinking coffee and listening to Nile (death-metal band from South Carolina) while I'm working. Great >:)

  8. Sounds nice!! I'm freezing my toes of in this house--can't get rid of the chill!! If I had a laptop, I would possibly go somewhere else to work :)

  9. Everything you described in your post sounded like heaven to me. When I'm in a situation like that I'm happiest. Unfortunately, I'm at home, showered and dressed but not make-uped. I keep meaning to get my stuff and go out to write but all the house work has gotten in the way so far. In half an hour I'm going to be out here.

  10. Dressed, showered, (hmmm, make that showered, dressed), gave up makeup years ago (very liberating), big mug of hot tea on my desk, quiet room, dog at my feet...yeah this works for me.

  11. I pretty much ignore my surroundings. I like to use music and headphones to help me get into the world I'm creating. Coffee shops are too fun for me...I get distracted.

    Have fun!

  12. That sounds good. If I went to a coffee shop here in Cyprus, I would be surrounded by old men!

  13. Right now as I read this, I'm sitting on our couch in front of the TV, partially covered by a blanket, listening to my wife crunch on some wanton's. I'm trying to balance my iPad on my lap while I type. Kind of boring, actually. :)
